Inclusive Curriculum Design

Gaia Academy is our training, curriculum and courses function.

We create inclusive curriculum contents, interest based courses and provide an end to end solution for SEN learner support in schools.

An inclusive curriculum ensures that all learners, regardless of their background, abilities, or learning needs, have equitable access to education. It is designed to be flexible, accessible, and representative of diverse perspectives, enabling every learner to engage meaningfully.

Key Features of an Inclusive Curriculum:

  • Differentiated Instruction – Adapting teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and needs.
  • Accessibility – Ensuring content is available in multiple formats (e.g., text, audio, video, assistive technology) to meet diverse needs.
  • Representation – Reflecting a wide range of cultural, social, and neurodivergent experiences to foster a sense of belonging and understanding.
  • Learner-Centred Approach – Providing personalised learning pathways that recognise individual strengths and challenges.
  • Collaborative Learning – Encouraging schools, families, and communities to co-create resources and support systems.

Benefits of an Inclusive Curriculum for Learners with SEN:

  • Increased Engagement – Tailored content and accessible learning materials enable SEN learners to participate fully in education.
  • Improved Learning Outcomes – Differentiated instruction ensures that each learner receives the right level of support to succeed academically.
  • Enhanced Wellbeing – A supportive and inclusive environment fosters confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging.
  • Preparation for Independence – Encouraging autonomy and self-advocacy equips learners with essential life skills.
  • Reduced Barriers to Learning – Accessible resources and assistive technology remove obstacles that may otherwise hinder progress.

Brochure & Virtual Classroom

Each learner has their own virtual whiteboard for notetaking. They can access classes and content outside of the timetabled hours and can use the chat, camera, video and communication tools as little or as much as they like.

"A Classroom in a Single Tab"

Imagine an online classroom that's as simple as opening a single tab. This is more than just video and chat. We've created a wholly interactive eco-system designed to keep all learners engaged and interested.

Highly Interactive

Collaborative whiteboards, integrated multimedia content, chat and video functionality, shared and personal spaces to work. This isn't a lerner sat alone learning in front of a screen, this is bringing a reimagined classroom to their fingertips. We can adjust all settings per classroom per learner to support safeguarding and deliver the best learner experience.

Available from anywhere, any time

As part of our commitment to being flexible for our students, our classroom is as accessible from home as it is from the top of a mountain (yes, we've tried it!).

Learner feedback after each session

Our system will automatically notify a learners key contact if a student doesn't attend a session. It will also automatically generate and send detailed feedback on each student after every session.

Safe and secure

Keeping students safe is our number 1 priority. We have an open door policy for our classrooms, so any educator can access any classroom at any time. Every class is recorded - audio and video and we monitor all engagement, online activity and feedback from the learners and can report on this as required by our school partner.

A Few Case Studies

Background
Our relationship with Peacehaven School began with an initial enquiry from a concerned parent. She had made the difficult decision to withdraw her child from school due to the significant impact on his mental health. Seeking an alternative that would provide therapeutic support while allowing her child to rebuild confidence and re-engage in learning from a safe environment, she reached out to Gaia Learning.

Engagement with the School
After initial discussions with the parent, Gaia Learning was introduced to the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). A meeting was arranged to explore the challenges faced by the school, particularly regarding funding constraints. The SENCO acknowledged the potential of Gaia Learning in supporting this learner and took proactive steps by applying to the Local Authority for top-up funding.

Expanding Support
Recognising the benefits Gaia Learning could offer, the SENCO identified several other students facing similar challenges. She reached out to discuss how Gaia Learning could extend its support to additional learners. As a result, Gaia Learning began working with three students from Peacehaven School. Early results indicated notable improvements in confidence and engagement.

Positive Outcomes
Encouraged by the initial success, two additional students participated in taster sessions and expressed enthusiasm for continuing with Gaia Learning. This brought the total number of supported learners to five. Each student demonstrated increased confidence and engagement, validating the effectiveness of Gaia Learning’s approach in providing tailored support within a flexible and nurturing learning environment. Conclusion

The collaboration between Peacehaven School and Gaia Learning showcases the impact of personalised, online education for neurodivergent students. By working closely with both parents and educators, Gaia Learning has provided an effective solution for students struggling in traditional school settings, enabling them to regain confidence and actively participate in learning.

Local Authority FAQs

Why are your sessions 30-minutes?

We specialise in engagement of neurodivergent children, and we know that whilst many providers may offer the traditional 1hour sessions, actually a focused, impactful, engaging 30-min session has proven to be the most effective. Learners have live teaching in that time and can stay on our virtual classroom and work on an ongoing basis on projects and studies when the live class has ended.

What makes Gaia Learning so special?

  • Expert trauma-informed educators, the same teachers for classes and 1:1 tuition building trust with the learners.

  • We focus on emotional safety and building the foundations of learning, often helping them to understand their own neurodivergence so they can thrive, quicker.
